Why it sits where it sits
Half the country in one atoll: 58 resorts, 15,242 keys, 44.3% of all arrivals. The only geography sold on a speedboat transfer rather than a seaplane, which removes the arrival cut-off and makes the atoll workable for short stays and stopovers. It also holds the entire city stock of Male' and Hulhumale'.
The only atoll on a round-the-clock speedboat transfer. Any arrival time means a same-day check-in. That removes the seaplane constraint and makes Kaafu the market for short stays, stopovers and MICE.
