Veneto
ISTAT 05 · Venezia · 73.5 m (+0.9%)
The country's leading market and the only region that has held first place since 1962. Four separate engines in one region — Venice, the Dolomites, Lake Garda and the Adriatic beach — which is why seasonality is spread rather than compressed into August. Venice is also the one major Italian city where volume fell in Q2 2025.

Trentino-Alto Adige
ISTAT 04 · Trento · Bolzano · 56.7 m
The region with the longest international track record: back in 1962 it was one of only two where foreign guests were the majority. Twin seasonality — Alpine winter and Dolomite summer — and Italy's highest hotel density per head. Bolzano ranks first in Europe on regional tourism competitiveness. A quirk worth knowing when handling the numbers: these are two autonomous provinces with separate statistical institutes, and the regional figure is their sum. ISPAT has closed 2025 for Trento with definitive data — over 20 million stays, +3.2%. The Bolzano annual total could not be confirmed, so the regional figure stays an estimate.
